| Extra weight means aching feet and when the weather is warm that can lead to fluid collecting in your lower legs and feet which can be very uncomfortable. Dr Charlotte Hawkins, a leading clinician in biomechanics and orthontics has spent her career eliminating pain through realigning the bones of some of the world's richest men and women. But now she has turned her attention to pregnancy, A growing baby causes many of the mother's soft tissues and some bones to be put out of their natural line, which can lead to aches and pains, In some cases this can put pressure on the joints and cause severe back problems. Pregnant women tend to accommodate their extra weight by rolling their feet inwards. The new Mothersteps insoles realign the feet and hold the ankle correctly, eliminating many aches and pains in the process. |

| The Claim: An insole worn during pregnancy to reduce back, hip and leg pain, it corrects the body's alignment to prevent unnecessary strain and help it cope with the pressure put on it by carrying a baby for nine months.
Tester's Verdict: I've got curvature of the spine and I also put on 4 stone when I was pregnant so I suffered with realty bad backache. A friend recommended I try these and they immediately eased the strain on my back - I could walk places again without suffering badly afterwards.
Recommend? Yes, my friend is pregnant with triplets so I've told her to get some.' |

| Dr Charlotte Hawkins, one of the UK's leading specialists in biomechanics and orthotics, has developed a shoe insole designed to reduce back pain, foot fatigue and postural discomfort during pregnancy.
Called Mothersteps, the insoles work by assisting the function of the leg and lower back, which are challenged with the weight gain associated with pregnancy. They help to realign foot and ankle structures that contribute to this pain, according to Hawkins.
As the foot reaches a certain point during your gait cycle (the way you walk), it 'rolls in' and, with an increase in weight of up to llkg during pregnancy, this can have extensive effects. The insoles are designed to prevent the shin and thighbone compensating for the abnormal movement of the foot, as this contributes to foot, ankle, knee, hip and low-back pain. |

| Mums-to-be may find that their precious bump can put more than a strain on the waist band of their favourite pair of jeans. With the average woman gaining around two and a half stone in weight by the end of her pregnancy, the extra pressure on your knee and hip joints can affect your posture and sense of balance. If this is starting to sound all too familiar, it could be time to try Mothersteps, a clever instep for your shoe that is designed to gently adjust the foot and ankle structure. As your pregnancy progresses, your foot begins to roll inwards and, combined with the extra weight of your unborn child, can cause your shin and thigh bone to over pronounce. We've got the pregnant girls in our office to test them and they swear by the benefits!
